ROAD BOARDS.
SOUTH RAKATA ROAD BOltfD.
The monthly meeting of the South Kakaia Road Board was held on Thursday Present—Messrs Lyttelton, Latabie! Coster, Richard^ and Stringfellow. overseer's report. Tbe Overseer's report was read and considered. It stated that some of the roads were much cut up, and (hat teams had been put on where most required. A number of the water races through' the Board's plantations required lookino to The Mam South road from Oakley's, and the mam river road required re-&hingling. WORKS. It was decided to call tenders for metalling, on main river road, and the South road; also to let tenders for gmall works required in the district, and to invite tenders for levelling the sand hill and I Sri 1", the Sufley on Baxter'^ road, llhe Clerk was instructed to have the 1 races cleared out. A foot bridge over water race was granted to Mrs Street. A number of ratepaeyrs applied to mve a footpath made in Kobinson street, but pending the receipt of further information, consideration of the request was deferred. I THR ROLIi, The Ashburton County Council forwarded the ratepayers' roll and defaulters' list. THE POUND. The sub-committee appointed recommended as follows :- That che Pound charges be as under :—For sustenance— for every entire horse, over 9 months old, 2s 6d per day ; for every horse, mare, colt or filly Is 3d per day; for every as. or mule, 9d per day ; bull over 0 months. Is 6d per day ; ox, cow, steer, or heifer, 9d per day ; ram above 4 months, 2d per day ; ewe or wether, 'd per day; goat, Id: boar, sow or pig, 3d. For every animal as per above, between the agea of 6 and 12 months, half rates, No charge to be mv f f? an*mals under 6 months old. lhat the Poundkeeper receive one month 8 notice to terminate his agreement, and fresh applications to be called for the office. The report was adopted unanimously. finance. Accouati for £'64 3s 4d and passed for payment and the members sat as a Cemetery Committee, and after transacting routine business, adjourned. The annual meeting of ratepayers was held at noon on Thursday, but there was a very small attendance. Mr Lyttelton presided. The accounts for the year were read, but not being audited, it was decided to advertise them after the audit was completed, and to adjourn the meeting. The total receipt* for the year, including balance of £684 4s 3d, were £2099 17a lid; expenditure, £1006 12s lOd, leaving* a credit balance of £1093 5s Id.
