IMPERIAL FEDERATION.

The Imperial Federation League hold a, meeting on Saturday to protest against Sir Charles Tupper's statement that the League mainly intend levying large contributions on the colonies in support of the British Army and IN ENGLAND. The drought in England has extended over a period of fifty-eight days, which is the longest on record. LABOR MATTERS. The non-Unionists are now working at Harkyid's yarda. Unionist leaders condemn the rowdyism. London, April 27 The Hull strike is quieting down, though further attempts at incendiarism have been made. The railway companies fearing outrage are taking the greatest precautions to protect their lines and bridges. THE QUEENSLAND FLOODS. The Bishop of Brisbane is appealing for assistance for the Church of Queens land, owing to losses sustained through the recent-floods there, and a fund has been opened. RUSSIA AND FRANCE. St. Petersburg, April 26, Russia has agreed, in the event of prance * being attacked by a hostile Power, to send her 600,000 men.
