At the meeting on Thursday of the Christchurch Society, after some discussion, it was resolved to adhere to the original date proposed by the Council for opening the season m North Canterbury, viz., October 1. Mr Spackman moved, "Thab the Council forward a protest to the Government against the Ashburton Society opening the season on September 22, inasmuch as this Society does not expend one penny m acclimatisation."
