Sir George Grey has been returned unopposed for Newton. Before Major Steward and Mr R. Alcorn, J.P's., this morning, a civil case was heard m which David Thomas sued Gideon Scobt for £5 18s 2d. Defendant disputed an item of 7s sd, which was allowed, and judgment was given for plaintiff fo; £5 10s 9d. The Minister of Education, accompanied by Mr T. S. Weston, chairman of the Educa tion Board, and Messrs Peryman, Mon> gomerj, and Joyce, members of the Board, visited the Normal School yesterday. The Minister is visiting the principal schools m the city and suburbs. The installation of W,M. and installation of officers of the Somerset Lodge, 1811, E.G., took place last night. The ceremony was ably conducted by Bros Crisp, P.M., Sfc John's Lodge, and Paul, P.M., Somerset Lodge, and the choir was led by Bro Brooks, who acted e£ Organist.
