John Wood, who made his third appearance within a period cf six months. was fined 10s with the alternative of 48 hours' imprisonment. : ■ _ . Frony the statement of the police it appeared that the man went to' the Police Station On Sunday night, statirg that he was withojut food and had no means of obtaining any. He was taken in custody in order that he might be supplied with meals. The police had no intention of proceeding with the charge, but would ask for a "remand in order to ascertain from what district 1" the man had come, so that the:Charitable Aid authorities might be communicated with. Failing this, an effort would be made to obtain for him admittance into the Old Men's Home. A remand till Friday was granted. '
