Yesterday forenoon a gun sooldent occurred at Waihetl by wbloh Edwatd Davenport, a lid of 13 '©it bis life. Deceased drew the gun towards him when It explodtd, the obarge of shot entering bis breaet ana coming out at his back. He walked a few tit^vs calling cut " Father \ Father," when Davenport o&ught him In the nor. of falling The lad was carried to he houde half a mile distant, and expired immediately afterward*.
Charge of Embezzlement Wellington, July 11. George Wbyte, late superintended of the Nelson Lunatic Asylum, appeared at the RM. Court to-day on a charge of embezzling stveral cams of money from >£l 4 downwards from the Government, land was remanded to Nelson.
