The'usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Thursday. Preaent — Afeeara Coster (Chairman), Allan, Mulligan and Stringfellow. APOLOGY. After the minuteo had been confirmed, an apology was reooived from Mr Lyttelton for unavoidable absence. EBPOBT. Tho Clerk reported that during the month the Chairman had accepted D. Murphy's tender for a metal contract on Mainwaring'a road at la Id per chain, but owing to the bad weather the work was not commenced. — The ratea had come m very well and some had been aued for.' — The roads m the district had suffered considerably owing to the bad weather. — Plans and specifications had been prepared for new work, and tenders for .the same would ba laid before the Board. The Clerk explained that he had made an error at the last meeting In the amount of fencing required at the pound, and Shellock's was not the lowest tender. After dUouaeion, G. Shellock'a tender for £6 was accepted. 7 COBBEBPONDENOE, Correspondence was read : — From the County Council, advising the Board that £39 lla 3d would be available for this district for the purpose of purchasing poisoned grain. —Resolved that (the whole amount be expended, and the grain distributed over the diatciot. It was decided to employ the men to. spread the grain. ■ ? ■ From Mr Murphy, stating that he had been unable to proceed with his metal contraot on account of the bad weather. From Mr Butter, asking permission to erect a. signboard m Michael street. — Granted. From Messrs Holmes and Loughrey, enclosing an account for £31 12a 7d.— Ordered to be put on the payaheet. From the Property Tax Commissioner, enclosing a declaration form re subsidy for rates oollected. ■ From the County Council, asking for certain returns of expenditure and liabilities.—The Clerk reported that they had been B«pplied . ROAD FROM DOBBIN'S FORD. Mr Allan thought it would be advisable not to acoept any tender for forming the roads from Dobbin's ford to the sea at - present, but to call for tendera for skim g ploughing the earne, making cuttings and a breaking up same, and burning ' the i, tuasooks, the forming to be let at some future time. Mr Mulligan, with tho permission of his seoonder, would withdraw his motion of last meeting. The motion wns then rosoluded,- and t Mr Allan's proposal was agreed to; s G?RSE GRABBING. Resolved that Mr Mulligan be authorised to have some gone grabbed near the - Boundary road. B VItLAGS SkTTLKRS. A number of village settlers applied to have a footpath made m front of their sections on the Barrhill road.— Resolved _ to have the work done; also to form one ' from the Main road to the Plantation road. TENDEBS, n Tenders were opened, and the follow* L ing accepted: — Walling up cuttings on n South roud, A. Haalett, £5. Maintaining , roads west of line, contracts No 4 and 5, * Maurice Brown, £78.
