Inquest. Chbistohukoh, January 26.
At the inqu at in Sohourvup this mornIng, Dr Thomas deposed that the deceased suffered very much from liver disease*. No sips of poison could be deteoted. Other witnesses stated that be had been very unwell lately and much depressed by the hot weather. Ho purchased ohloral on Monday, but no trace of the bottle oan be found. A verdict of death from natural oauses probably acceleated by an overdose of chloral was returned. Committed for Trial. Stephen Waleh and Michael Sheenan ware oommitted for trial to-d*y for robbing a drunken man of clothes and money. A Refusal and its Penalty' G. H, Ell, son of George Waldook Ell, whose caße has been before the Supreme Court ia various forme* for several months, was to-day committed to gaol for refusing to anawer a question at the Official Assignee's examination.
Salvationist Disturbance.
Timaku, January 25,
The Salvationists ousod a disturbance here last evening. The captain and the band paraded and harangued in front of three hotels, and some persons inside responded by beating dinner gongs, sounding fog horns, and ringing huge bells. These sounds, together with the cries of the mob, the mosio of^he band, etc., caused a fearful din. The captain refused to move on, and held the ground at pleasure. An information will be laid.
Faith-Healing. A notable case of healing through faith has just transpired. One Oiozier, a farmer at Pleasant Point, had been a sufferer from sciatica f<<r years, and was in Timaru Hospital whence he was discharged as incurable. He had been a oripple for two years. He was persuaded by hla wife to attend the ministration of the Rev. Mr Dowie, with the result of a complete restoration of the use of his limbs. The man is now actually walking freely. This information is absolutely reliable.
