It is announced that the Right Hon Sir R. A. Cross has reconsidered his decision to resign, and has consented to retain the position ot Secretary of State for India.
It is stated that the Earl of Carnarvon will succeeded the Right Hon Edward Stanhope as Secretary of State for the Colonies.
January 9
It is announced that Lord Salisbury will replace the Earl of Iddesleigh as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs
It has not yet been decided who will succeed the Right Hon Edward Stanhope as Secretary of State lor the Colonies.' Earl Cadogan has been mentioned as likely to accept that portfolio.
. Tbe Daily News yesterday published an article denying the statement made by the Standard, that Mr Gladstone is inclined to modify his Home Rule for Ireland scheme, with the view to conciliate the Unionist Liberals. x
