TO THE BDITOX. Sib, —At last, after months of weary watching and waiting, the municipal mocker (or watering cart} his made its debht, and after it— the delnge. I have been amused with those who know, “ dontcherkaow,” that in future the appearance of the “mucker” may bo re* gurded as a sure sign of rain. (This prediction has been amply verified even within the last 48 hours

Should the “ public dribbles” of this “ portable Aquarius” fail to provoke the wrath of Jupiter Pluvius, its competitive squirts will at least earn for it the gratitude of the residents who are located in those thoroughfares where water carte and nor’-westers are never out together.

Hav ng closely scrutinised the 'operations of the “mucker” when oat upon its rambles, 1 am enabled to offer a practical suggestion to those actively interested, which is : That a small boy—one to every perforation in the rear distributor —be hired to walk behind the cart, each clad in a waterproof shit, and armed with a wire nail, which may be need for the purpose of clearing the said perforations from rocks, sand, slime, and other accumulations which might obstruct the fall, free, and fair dissemination of nnfiltered anti-nor’-wester compound. But seriously, Mr Editor, the inauguration of this scheme is a benefit which has evidently not been fully appreciated; perhaps because the idea is far too intricate, and consequently beyond the comprehension of those who number not among their various accomplishments a knowledge of hydrostatics, patent improvised pumps, and the mechanism of municipal muckers in general—l am, &c, Muldoos.
