WAKANUI ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly mooting of the Wabanqi Board Board was held at the Board’s office on Sa'urday. Present— Messrs M. B-uce (chairman), W. Lill, G. Cole, and J. Brown. CORRESPONDENCE. Lettera were rend :—(1) Prom Davie and Haunter, Surveyors, of Christchurch, forwarding at M-a Gibson’s request a pi *n of r< ads showing encroachment of ,-ncos, adjoining her property. (2) From Messrs S. Brown and W. Juneson, da •lining to sell hind for road. (3) From a number of ratepayers praying that the Beach road he re opened (4) From Mr It. Adams on the same subject —lt was resolved—“ That steps he at once taken to open the Beach road for light traffic in such manner as the Surveyor nvy consider heat, and that the Surveyor consult with the Counry t nglneer with regard to exreraou of pr tecti n and any action deemed necessary t be undertaken hy the members representing the Ward.” (5) From the Colonial Secretary with regard to a sett ement of acoun's between ihi Board ird the Hakatere Town Boar! (.') From Mr G Tait <fi ring to lease reserve.— Refused. Ir, wis resolved t > send notice to the School Committee that the children would be allowed to run their horses in the paddock. (H) From Mr p . Stewart with regard to culvert.—The Board under took to make provision" without inconvenience to the settlers.

THIS FENCE QCTESTIOV; Mr Lortre, on beha f of Mrs Gibson, waited on the Board and said that Mrs Gib-on was wi ling to take down the fence the Boird had given her notice t<remove. He said that Mra Gibson comp ained of Mr D Wilson's feces on the Sbipka Pass road being on the road and asked that the fences on both sides of the road be removed t■> the proper line. The Chairman asked if Mrs Gibson bad attended to the removal of her fence. Mr Lowe said that portion was already down. PROPOSED FORD Mr S. Wright wared on the Boor I in reference to proposed ford near his place. —The matter was allowed to stand over. TCS3OCKS Mr M. Wi’son asked the Board to give i f a immediate attention towards having the tussocks destroyed on tfce roads frou‘iiit> his land oc the plains as, there was immi oent danger of his fence being destroyed by Ore. It was resolved to call tenders for next meeting for ploughing 20 miles of road, Gftsen feet wide each side, 2k inches, tc be ploughed with single-furrow plough.

The Surveyor’s repot t was read as follows (1) Gibson’s Road : After an inspection of this road hy the in mbera it was decided not to tike any actl-n with r-gard ti forming the full width or to interfere with the gullies crossing the r >*>d, but to make a drain alongside the roar* opposite Maxwell’s so as to drain the water i.do its natural outlet which was prevented by the formation, The w< rk was let for £3. It was decided, after viewing the locality between Messrs W Browo ■nd D. Johnson’s propertns t> ask them to contiibute half 0 at of making a d-ab-o < each side of the road This they have consented *o do and the w >rk ha been let for £4. (2) Sei-fi id road : Thc utract Oi tiis road has botn completed (3) Closing road : We have made the n. cess ry plans for the closing cf road near Tievu z .’a, and have du'y adveitited same. (4) River road : We have com mnnioated with Messrs Brown and W.
