SOUTH R AKAIA ROAD BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the South Kakaia Road Bo >rd was held on Thursday. Preseat—Messrs Holmes, Allan, Mulligan, and Tucaer. Mr Holmes waa voted to the chair. ROUTINE. The Clerk’s eport was read and considered Mr Coster then attended and took his seat as Chairman. PLANTING. It was resolved to fence and sow the road one chain wide with gum seeds f om the present three chain reserve as far as the river. FORMATION. It was resolved to form the remaining chain wide road between the River road and the three chain road, tenders to be called for the work CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read from (1) the Chairman of the Rakaia School Committee re clearing gone off the road. Go the motion of Mr Allan, seconded by Mr Holmes, it was decided to call for. tenders for trimming the fences and grabbing the gone out of the Board’s plantations.—(2) From Mr A. Chamberlain, applying for an open crossing on the West Town Belt It was decided to have the work done (3) From Mr Boyle,, applying for the redaction of terraces on the road below Acton Station. The Clerk was instructed to have the work done. (4) From the Chairman of the Plantation Board, requesting permission to post forms in the office. (5) From the Survey office,re giving notices whenfit wag proposed to stop any roads in the district. (6) From the Railway Department stating that the question of granting the halfchain road near Chertaey waa still under consideration.—(7) From the Mount Hntt Road Board, asking if this Board woold join in a general storm-water scheme, and if *so what proportion of the cost would it bear.—lt was resolved to reply that the Board would be glad to see a storm-water scheme as mentioned in the letter, and be happy to join with other Boards in furthering it. —(8) Prom Mr B’akiston, stating that he had placed to the Board’s credit LB, the proceeds of the sales at Sod town.

TENDERS. Tenders were opened for skim plough* iog Green road and Hog’s Whara road,' and that of Wi liam Palmer at 6d a was accepte 1. CEMETERY. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Government and state that the Board would be willing to take the management of the cemetery, and requests tnat the necessary steps be taken to constitute the mamba's a Cemetery Board. ?LovoHnre. It was decided to call for tenders for skim ploughing one hundred and thirty chains on Jones's road. oossb oir ROADS. It was decided to give Messrs McAnulty and Rogers fourteen days’ notice to grab the gorse off their roads; if the work be not then commenced, the Board to for tenders fur the work and charge the cost.

POUND. The Ponndbook was inspected. PAYMENTS. Accounts amounting to L6O I9s IJd were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned. *
