Glenorchy May 24th/75 Dear Donald I received your very kind note, by Scully, his being here has had the effect of soothing Archy a good deal. He does not suspect that he was sent. He thinks he came by chance to see him. I am much perplexed to know what is best to be done. It is now evident that some thing must be done. I have for a long time past observed this coming on which has kept me very unhappy. My own opinion is if he could be sent for a trip to sea, with some careful person, who would not let him have grog that that he would return quite well. If that can be effected the sooner he is got away the letter. I see plainly now that it will not do to put off much time, or it will be attended with sad consequences, it gives me very great pain to make this statement but I feel I am no longer conceal the truth. I am sorry to give you so much trouble knowing how much you have to do. I was happy to here by Scully that your foot is better. I remain in haste Yours sincerely Catherine I McLean
