MANA RUNS AGROUND
WHILE ENTERING PATEA HARBOUB. (OT TELEORAFE.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WAXGANUI, This Day. The steamer Mana, from Wellington, ran aground at 6.30 last evening, when attempting to enter v Patea Harbour. A heavy sea was running at the time. The vessel is bumping heaviiy, stern on to the sea. Nothing can be done to refloat her until the* weathei moderates. The Mana, after being laid up at Patea during the winter, has just been recommissioned in order to assist in tins carriage of dairy produce from the coastal port to Wellington. The vessel made her first trip of the season to Wellington on Wednesday of las.t week. On her 'present trip the Mana left this port on Tuesday evening, making a call at Tarakohe co route to Patea. Captain, Johansen is in command. Reports from the coastal ports to-day state that the weather is very bad, and a strong westerly caused delay to the vessels running to the coastal ports. The local agents for the Mana (Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd.) received advice to-day to the effect that the vessel was in a favourable position for refloating when the weather moderates.
