Bluett said he had groat

pleasure in proposing the Hon John Hall. (Cheers.) He was a gentleman of great experience both, in Provincial and General Government politics. His word carried great weight in the House, and he thought that the Hon John Hall would be not only of great service to this district, but to> the Colony at large. (Cheers.) Mr M'Nae, of Halkett> had very great pleasure in seconding the nomination. As there were no other candidate* proposed, the Returning Officer declared; the Hon John Hall to be duly elected. (Loud cheers.) TheJJHon John Hall, who- was received with cheers, said he begged to thank them for the honour they had done him,, in returning him unopposed. He had troubled them on previous occasions with long addresses but h« would not do so now. He thought the great questions of the day had been well ventilated, but be intended addressing the electors at Killincby some day next week, and was sorry he had not .had an opportunity of doing so before the nomination. . He did not call Mmself by any name such a* Liberal, Conservative, Freetrader, &c, as there were so many different constructions- put upon the terms ; but he frankly stated his views, and left it with themselves to call him what tkoy liked. He did not presume to think that, because be was unopposed, there was no difference of opinion, but tho fact of their confidence in him, not as an old candidate but as a new one, was very flattering indeed. , He said his duty was first to the Colony at largo, and then to the district. (Cheers.) A vote of thanks to the Returning Officer concluded the proceedings.
