PRESENTATION.
A meeting was hold in the Leith Valley School on Saturday evening in connection with the retirement from active work in tho Sunday School of Mr Edwin Tanner, who some '20 years ago initialed it, and has been actively associated with it ever since, To mark their appreciation of such long and faithful serrico, the leachers and parents entertained him at a musical social, and presented him with a handsome Bugster Bible, and an armchair. In malting the presentation, Mr Rodger refeircd in highly complimontary terms to Mr Tanner's work in the school. and to his over ready help in forwarding Christian work in the district. Mr Botting, on behalf of himself and family, wrote a very kind and appreciative letter, in which he referred to the valuable services rendered by Mr Tanner, and to the great pleasure it gavo him to know that such were being suitably recognised, Mr Moodie also spoke of the very high esteem in which Mr Tanner was held throughout the district, and said that from his own personal acquaintance he knew him to be a Chrintipn geri-'ileman in tho tTuest sense of the term. Air Tanner fee'ingly responded, thanking all their kindness, and assuring them that nothing- hut his failing sight had induced him to give up a work ho hod so much at heart, Throughout tho ovening musical items wcro admirably rendered by the choir, and also by individual members. A very pleasing item was an action song by the 'children. Aftr,r refreshments had been handed round a. hearty vote of .thanks was tendered Mr Rodger and his colleagues for tho time and trouble taken to provide such a pleasant entertainment.
