DANZIG'S ACQUISITION DISGUISE AS TRAWLERS GERMAN MILITARISATION LONDON, March <2 The militarisation of Danzig is rapidly being completed through the acquisition of a highly-efficient "mosquito" navy, reports the Warsaw correspondent of the Daily Telegraph. The craft are classified as "special trawlers" for deep-sea fishing and have been . delivered from Germany. They comprise high-speed, motordriven craft, in reality mine-layers, mine-sweepers, submarine-chasers and torpedo-boats, and are accompanied by German instructors. Danzig is not allowed under the Versailles Treaty to possess a military organisation, but it is not denied that Danzig's land and air forces have fully reached German standards. This has been achieved through such subterfuge as the Hitler Youth, Storm Troopers, aero clubs and other organisations. It is also known .that Germany has supplied Danzig lavishly with guns, ammunition, tanks and motorised units. Clearly, in the event of Germany and Poland being opposed to each other in wartime, Danzig would have great strategic value by land and sea.
