OBITUARY.
MR. EULER PERKINS. A North Auckland pioneer, Mr. Euler Perkins, has passed away at the age of 79 years. He arrived in New Zealand 55 years ago by the Chili and settled at Port Albert. Having some knowledge of medicine, at a time when doctors wpre scarce, he gave free aid to English and Maori settlers, and frequently travelled long distances in the course of this work. Later, he came to Auckland and entered into business as a grain merchant, and afterwards entered the wool trade. He was an enthusiastic prohibitionist and one cf the pioneer members of the Churph of Christ. He leaves five sons, Messrs. Ernest A., Frank, Alfred, Rodolph, and Gilbert Perkins, one daughter, Mrs. Florence Neild, and over 20 grandchildren. CAPTAIN G. A. PREECE. J* [BY TELEGRAPH.—TBESS ASSOCIATION. J PALMERSTON NORTH, Saturday.' The death is announced of Gapiain George Augustus Preece, N.Z.C., aged 80 years, a well-known veteran of the Maori War. Ho was resident magistrate at Wairoa and Opotiki for 12 years, and also at Napier and Christ-church. He had been a resident of Palmerston North sinca 1892. ' J.--, MR. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] CHRISTCHUKCB Sunday. Mr. A. C. Fryer, a well-known Christchurch . solicitor, died in the Lewisham Hospital to-day, following npon a brief but severe attack of pneumonia. Mr. Fryer was for a number of years connected with the firm of Izardj Loughnan and Fryer, but two years or so ago Iw» went into business on his own account. He was of a retiring disposition, but his cheery personality made him very popular with members of his •profession. He was a brother of Mr. F. C. Fryer, the well-known Canterbury and New Zealand footballer of some years ago.
