— — ♦ A meeting of the Committee of the Literary Institute was held laat night, there befog present— Mr B. H. Sooale (Chairman), Meadames Bright and Griffiths, Miss DoubHd, Messrs E. Pur* aer,'Stoney, and G. Robinson. Accounts for the nevr books were passed ; and Mesdamea Griffiths and Bright, and Miss Douslin were appointed a subcommittee to arrange for the supply of sixty new book?. A letter was received from the promoters of the movement for the establishment of a Shorthand Association, asking for the use of the Institute rooms for the purposes of meetings to be held twice a week. It was resolved to grant the request, a nominal rent, estimated at Is 3d a week, to be charged to cover the cost of gas. The formal resignation of MrG, Robinaon, who has held the secretaryship of i the Institute for several years, and who is taking his departure from Blenheim [ shortly, was received and accepted with r muoh regrer.
