A CORPORAL KILLED

It is officially stated in Warsaw that a German military patrol penetrated Polish territory to a distance of one kilometre near the village of Penta, a few miles north of Ostrolenka.

On encountering a Polish patrol the Germans used a sub-machine-gun. The Poles returned the fire, and the Germans eventually withdrew, leaving their leader, Corporal Kastenhagen, dead on Polish territory.

Four new cases are reported of Polish anti-aircraft batteries firing on German warplanes which are stated to have been flying over Polish territory.

The Berlin radio station announced that Polish anti-aircraft guns fired on a German plane flying over Danzig. One of the occupants was the State Secretary, Herr Stuckart. It was not stated whether the plane was struck. The announcement was followed by the declaration : "This is an intolerable provocation against all international law."

Paris reports that it is learned that all men in Gdynia and all Poles from Gdynia who live in Danzig have been called to the colours.

The Berlin paper "Angriff" claims that twenty-four minority German Ukrainian reservists were machinegunned and killed at a provisional military camp at Lodz for refusing to be shifted to northern Poland.

The general staff of the German air force has transferred its headquarters to Gatow, outside Berlin.
