BLAST OF ABUSE.

"GUNS WILL SOUND."

Poland's Warning Enrages

Nazi Press.

AN " INSANE CAMPAIGN." Independent Cable Service. LOXDOX, August 11. '"Polish guns will sound in the event of Danzig Germans presenting Poland with a fait accompli." This warning in the Polish Press has brought a counterblast of abuse and threats from enraged German papers. In headlines across the front page the "Voelkische Beobachter" called the warning, "The Height of Polish Impudence."

The "Lokal Anzeiger" says: ' Now, Mr. Lmbrella-Paeifier Chamberlain, can there be more convincing proof of the spirit of naked brutality and aggressiveness than this threat?"

The "Volks-Zeitung" declares: "If Poland finds it necessary to threaten the shelling of Danzig, then the Germans will answer in unmistakable form. In such event, Germany, too, will let her guns speak."

''B.Z. am Mittag" blames Britain for giving Poland a blank cheque, "which resulted in Poland running amok against peace and justice in Europe."

The paper adds: "It must be stated briefly and emphatically, to those who have enticed Poland along this path, that there must some time be an end to German patience." Climax on September 2? The violent Xazi Press barrage against Poland and Britain may be the prelude to a sustained campaign, timed to climax 011 September 2, when the annual Xazi rally opens at Nuremberg.

"Illustrowauv Kurjer Codzienny," a Polish newspaper, has added fresh fuel to the fire by an assertion that East Prussia should belong to Poland.

"Zwoelfuhrblatt" says: "Germany's patience in the face of these threats isn't a bottomless barrel."

The Polish newspaper, "Wieczer Warszawski," says: "The insane anti-Polish campaign in the German Press is due to a realisation of Poland's growing strength. They are beginning to see that armed conflict with Poland would mean the end of their 'Drive to the East' policy. They are trying to cheer themselves up by unheard of threats against Poland."

The Polish sensational Press declares that booklets are being sold in Prussia under the title "Polish Language Guide for Soldiers" (reports the Warsaw correspondent of "The Times").

Such a guide was prepared at the time of the occupation of Bohemia, and included phrases like, "If you obey, there is nothing to fear; but otherwise you will be shot, and your houses will be burned down."
