SIGNS OF GOODWILL.
League Commissioner's View Of Danzig. ENGLISH PAPER'S ALARM. (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, July 26. Dr. Burckhardt, League Commissioner at Danzig, interviewed by the British United Press, said that the situation in Danzig has definitely improved. "Here and there I find signs of goodwill, revealing a desire to ameliorate the atmosphere. A large dose of ill-will from outside would be necessary for Danzig to reach a tragic issue," he added. The "Yorkshire Post," discussing the international situation, issues a warning that plans for Herr Hitler's next coup are already far advanced. Japan has been encouraged to cause trouble for Britain in the Far East, while assistance has been given the 1.8..A. to embarrass Britain at a critical moment. It is known that all German Army leave has been stopped as from August 1. Signor Gayda, Signor Mussolini's Press mouthpiece, writes: "If the encirclers involve Germany in war over Danzig, or anything else, Italy is ready to fight by the side of the Axis Powers. The first day British 'planes attempt to cross the Mediterranean in wartime they would find adequate Italian opposition."
