DANZIG DEFENCES. War Weapons Smuggled In Piecemeal. POLAND MAY GIVE WARNING. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, July 4. Warsaw Press reports state that over 5000 Polish families residing in the frontier districts of East Prussia have been ordered to move inland bv July 15. J

The militarisation of Danzig continues, two tanks and two field guns having been smuggled in piecemeal last night. It is stated that Poland has not yet sent a Note to Berlin or Danzig. The semi-official newspaper "Gazetta Polska," believes that steps may be taken to bring the real facts of the situation to Herr Hitler, as he may personally be unaware of them. The Polish Commissioner to Danzig, M. Chodacki, may warfl the Senate that fortifications in the city contravenes the Statutes. The British Ambassador to Poland, Sir Howard Kennard, saw Mr. Chamberlain this morning, when Viscount Halifax was also present. Mr. Chamberlain later was received in audience by the King. The "Borsenzeitung" (Berlin) says: "The British tactics are designed to make our knees knock, shake the brazen unity between our leadership and our people, and demonstrate Britain's absolute, certain and utterly undonbted readiness for war."

DANZIG SORE SPOT. Suggested Canal From Vistula To Gdynia. SOLUTION OF PROBLEM. (Received 11.30 a.m.) SUVA, this day. Sir Walter Carpenter, of Sydney, a passenger in the Mariposa, when interviewed l>y the "Fiji Times Herald," said the sore spot in Europe, Danzig, was composed almost entirely of German citizens and would Clever incorporate with Poland, but to give it to Germany now would block Poland's only access to the sea. He suggested cutting a canal from the Vistula to Gdynia, thus connecting Poland's port with the Vistula and eliminating % the necessity of using Danzig. Germany, Britain, France, and Poland should be invited to contribute to the cost, which would be less than that of one day's war.
