The official newspaper, "Danziger Vorposten," declares that Germany has decided Danzig's future, for which reason a plebiscite, or similar action on the part of Danzigers would be superfluous. Poland's bragging will not retard the return of Danzijr to th« Reich.

Poland mu*t not imagine that British and French soldiers will risk their lives, the paper declares, adding that British offers of intervention arc unacceptable to (iermany as is Colonel Heck's reply to the Fuehrer.

Poland must recognise that Dan zip belongs to the Reich, (iermuny is ready to march the moment her patience is exhausted. This moment will be carefully determined beforehand.

The British United Press Rome correspondent, on the other hand, learns authoritatively that Italy and (lermany have rejected the Pope's proposals for a conference to discuss the Polo-derman dispute on the ground that the situation is insufficiently serious to endanger F.uropean peace.

The Vatican diplomat* received this assurance. a\ it!i a certain degree of optimism as indicating that Heir Hitler does not intend to precipitate a crisis at present.

London markets are rjuiet and closed irregular, partly the result of protittaking mid partly because of renewed fears regarding Danzig.

I'otenikin, Soviet Envoy, and Colonel Beck. said: "Both ascertained a friendly objective and attitude towards each other. Poland learned that the Soviet fully understands the Polish attitude towards the Russoßiitish negotiations.

"M. Potemkin assured Colonel Beck that the Soviet takes a positive attitude towards Colonel Beck's statements of Poland's attitude towards Germanv."

NO PEACE PARLEY.

AIMS OF POPE'S MEDIATION. (Received 12 p.m.) LONDON", May 11. The "Daily Telegraph" Vatican City correspondent says it is officially stated that no peace conference will be held. A Vatican Encyclical on peace is not contemplated. The Pope will not preside at any peace conference anywhere but in the Holy See. He has not proposed mediation in any quarrel, but the Pope's diplomatists are exercising persuasion with several Governments for the maintenance of peace.
