WHERE GOVERNORS ARE RARE

LORD JEIXICOE AT RAGLAN. WAR MEMORIAL UXVEILED. Raglan has eeen only two governore— Sir G«orge Grey fifty year* ago and Viecount Jcllieoe on .Saturday. Lord Jellicoe, who wa-s accompanied by Lady Jellkoe, went over to unveil the district memorial to the men who fell in the late war. Raglan surpassed itself in ite welcome. Mr. T. Parker (Town Board chairman) and Mr. Campbell Johnston (County Council chairman) botb expressed the e«ttlers' appreciation of the kindness of his Excellency in paying the district a visit. Mr. Johnson said the Governors thoughtfulness in going out of his way to get to places off the beaten track wae much appreciated. In thanking the settlers for their very warm welcome, Lord Jellicoe epoke enthusiastically of the scenery of the district, and prophesied that when the road? were put in good order there i would be euch a rush of Governors that ! the settlers would get sick of themI Hie Excellency congratulated the Raglan j people on their eplendid efforts during the war. After the welcome his Excellency unveiled the war memorial, a granite obelisk erected in the main street. The obelisk bears the names of the 22 men lof the district who lost their lives at the j war. The ceremony was a brief but I impressive one. The Eev. C. B. W. ! Seton, M.C.. on behalf of the Memorial Committee, handed the memorial over to the Town Board, and Mr. Parker, in accepting, said the monument would be accented a? a sac-red trust.
