THE NINTH CONTINGENT.

DUNEDIN, Feb. 4,
Applications continue to come in freely for the Ninth Contingent. The medical tests will begin this morning.

AUCKLAND, Feb. 4. Captain O'Brien, of the A Battery, will command the camp of the North Island battalion of the Ninth Contingent, at Te Papapa, near O&E'huEga. Captain, "O'Brien will also receive a commission in the Contingent. The; work of enlisting recruits for the Contingent was resumed to-day. The Auckland section will go into camp at the end of this week, and the rest of the sections from the Nor -th Island will arrive, most probably, next week.
Captain Jackson, of the Ninth Contingent, left for Dunedin this morning, to go into camp there.
Eighteen more applicants were put through the riding tests at the Show Grounds this morning by LieutenantBrown and Major Snow, of whom fourteen passed. A horse", bolted with one of them and* rushed into the tent lines, where he got rid of his rider.
