STRIKE PRISONERS.
PETITION FOR RELEASE. PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE REPORTS FAVOURABLY. [From our own Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON August 13. The chairman of the A to L Petitions Committee (Mr J. H. Bradhey) reported in the House of Representatives this evening that the petition of Peter Eraser and 9000 others of Wellington, praying for the release of the strike prisoners, had been considered. The committee had come to the conclusion that the Government should favourably consider the petitioners' request. "I want to say," said Mr Bradney, "that the committee was unanimous in its decision."
The question that the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration was carried without discussion.
