HOCKEY.
At the meeting of the Canterbury Hockey Association last evening, it was agreed that the second and third grade representative matches against the Peninsula Association's teams should be played at Little River on August 20. Mr N. B. M'Galium was appointed referee and manager of the teams. The Wellington Association advised that, owing to the unsettled state of affairs, it would be unable to send a team to tour the South Islarid this-season. It was arranged that the four leading teams in the second, third, and fourth grade should play their matches next Saturday, and that only the Technical College v. Christchurch fifth grade game should be played on that date.
The Ashburton hockey tournament finals resulted in wins for Selwyn (seniors), Temuka (juniors), Selwyn (third grade), in the finals of the men's games. In the final of the ladies' senior game, High School (Ashburton) were victors.
