SPARROW SHOOTING.
STYX GUN CLUB. The following are the results of a series of Sparrow-shooting Sweepstake Matches conducted under the auspices of the Styx Gun Club on Saturday. Messrs W. Claridge and VV. Burney acted as handicappers, and Mr J. Tulett filled the position of referee. The first of three legs for a trophy presented by Mr F. Sisson was decided over a shoot of 10 sparrows each, resulting in Mr R. Barnes securing 10 points, T. Prebble 8, W Burney 8. D. Milne 8, A. Fairbairn 7, E. Spencer 7, J. Tulett 7, .0. Claridge 7, J. Pepper 6, F. Claridge 6, A. Buckley 5, S. Claridge 5, F. Sisson 5, T. Higham 5, W. Donald 5, R. Pugh 5. First Sweepstake, 6 sparrows each —J. Tulett (18 yds), 6 birds, 1; W. Burney (18yds), 5 birds, 2. Sixteen competed. Second Sweepstake, 10 sparrows each —R. Bavnes (20yds), 10 birds, 1; T. - Prebble (2iyds), W. Burney (18yds), D. Milne (17vds)! each shot 8 birds and-divided second' and' third moneys. Sixteen competed. Third Sweepstake, 6 sparrows each —W.. Burney (lSVds), F. Claridge (20yds), J. Tulett* (18yds), and C. Claridge (17yds) each killed all their birds and divided the stakes. Sixteen competed. , .... ~,' Final Sweepstake, first miss out—After the fourth round T. Higham, J. Tulett and F. Claridge were the only ones left in, and they decided to divide the stakes.. Twelve competed. SPEEYDON GUN CLUB. On Saturday the Spreydon Gun Club held an Open Invitation 10/- Sparrow Match of 10 birds Scores:—F. Preece (.21yds),- 8 kills; W R. Heney (21yds), 8: E. Gee (21 yds) 8- F Truscott (20yds), 8; R. "Wlnteiaw .iun. (16vds). 8; H. Turner (21yds), 7; F Turner (16yds),. 7; A. H. Free (20yds), 6- H Vale (21yds), 5; H. Avers (21yds), 5* G. Greer (20yds), 5; J. Fuller (18yds), 5' They were a very fast lot of birds, and 'the weather was perfect. Mr G. Heaven was handicappcr and referee.
