A SOCCER WORKER.
MR E. RITSON HONOURED. A social evening, at which Mr E. Ritson, ex-secretary of the Canterbury Foqtball Association, was the guest of honour, was held.in the Rangers' Football Club's room in the Oxford Hotel on Saturday evening. Among those present were: —Dr Gow, Dr Marks, Messrs Burgess, Canner, Gill, Gentles, Russell, and Ramsay, of the Canterbury Football Association; Bryer and O. Williams, of the Canterbury Rugby Union, and many playing members and their friends. Mr Burgess was in the* chair. The health of the guest of the evening was proposed by Dr Gow, who spoke in glowing terms of Mr Ritson's unselfish devotion to soccer, and of the great work he had done in securing a ground for the association. On behalf of the soccer people of Canterbur/, Dr Gtow presented Mr Ritson with a fine silver tea service and tray, suitably inscribed. A tribute to Mr Ritson's work was also paid by Mr Sproston, who, on behalf of the Rangers' Club, presented Mr Ritson with a gold-mounted fountain pen. Mr Ritson responded suitably. Other toasts were honoured during the evening. A very enjoyable musical programme was provided by Messrs Shurrock, Edwards, Jones, East, Sproston, Bentley and Nicholson.
