AIR FORCE CASUALTY
PILOT OFFICER KILLED (0.C.) _ GKKYMOU'i'H, Monday Private advice was received in Greylnnuth to-day from ftngland that PilotOfficer Robert Daniel, formerly of Greymoufh, was killed in action on Saturday. Ho was a son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Daniel, of Taihape, and formerly of Greymontli, and was 2-1. Pilot-Officer Daniel was educated at the Cohden and Greymontli schools and then entered the employment of Mr. W. A. Clarke, company secretary, Greymontli. He volunteered for the Army and after doing part of his training at Burnham was granted a transfer to the Air Force. He commenced his training as a pilot in March, 1940, and passed out with distinction as a pilotollicer in August last. After completion of his training in England he was posted in January, 1911,* to a night bombing squadron. Pilot-Officer Daniel is fhe first Greymonth airmail to bo killed in action overseas.
