THE AUCKLAND CENTRE NAMES FOR LIFE-MEMBERSHIP The annual meeting of the Auckland Centre of the Xew Zealand Athletic Association was Jield last evening. ]n moving the adoption of the annmil report and balance-sheet, which was reviewed in the Hhkald last Jlondav. the chairman, Mr. H. L. Towers, referred to the highly success!til past season and stressed the need during the present crisis for all clubs to cany on and keep tho sport alive. . Alteration to the constitution to allow the inclusion on the centre executive of a member of the Waikato Sub-Centre was sought in a notice of motion from that sub-centre, and this was agreed to. The chairman explained that under the new rules of the New Zealand Association centres were now enabled to forward nominations for honorary life-membership of the association. It was unanimously agreed thai the pioneer work of two members of the Auckland Centre fully justified their nomination, and it was resolved to forward the names of Messrs. W. Morton and J. I'. Kalauglier for this honour. It was decided lo forward the name of the sitting president, Mr, R. W. McVilly, f-ir re-election to the parent body. Eulogistic reference to the work of the secretary, Mr. H. Jenner Wily, was made by several speakers and it was decided to place on record the progress which had been made during Mr. Wily's terms of office. The meeting was unanimous, in its wish that Mr. Wily should continue as secretary and. as there were no other nominations, lie was declared elected. • • An appeal from the Mntninnta Club relative lo the allocation of dates at Easter lime by the Waikato sub-centre was referred back to the latter for a report. It was resolved lo recommend to the executive that it consider holding a relay meeting between the Centre and the Papa- i kura and Hopuhopu military camps. The Otaua club asked to be allotted colours, and it was agreed to grant it gold singlet, with letter 0 in black, and black shorts. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr. H. L. Towers; vice-pre-sidents, Bev. F. De Lisle, Messrs. A. Moon, J. P. Dolan; honorary secretary, Mr. It. .Tenner Wily; honorary treasurer. Mr. E. W. Friedlnnder: honorary auditor, Mr. G.
