CAMPAIGN IN BRITAIN ADDITIONAL GRANT MADE (Received February 10, 6.15 p.m.) British Wireless LONDON, Feb. f> Describing what had been done in Britain in the furtherance of physical training and recreation, the President of tho Board of Education, Earl do la Warr, announced at a gathering attended by delegates to the world congress on Leisure and Recreation, that an additional £16.000,000 had been granted by the Exchequer, which had always granted £2,500,000 for this purpose. England had concentrated on two things, first the schools, and secondly the provision of facilities for people who were past school age, to enjoy themselves.
Lord do la Warr added that as the rate of the Exchequer grant averaged about 30 per cent, that meant that schemes costing from £10,000,000 to £12,000.000 had been started or were being planned.
