PALESTINE CONFERENCE DELEGATIONS RECONCILED DEMAND FOR INDEPENDENCE (Received February 10, 6.5 p.m.) British Wireless LONDON, Feb. 0 The Colonial Secretary, Mr. Malcolm Mac Donald, has reconciled the Arab Defence Party representatives and those of the Grand Mufti to a single delegation. Raglieb Bey Nnshashibi and Yakub Effendi Farraj, president and vicepresident of the Defence Party, were nominated as delegates on a joint delegation. Farraj, who is still in Palestine, has been summoned by telegraph. Nashashibrj who is unwell, was unable to attend to-night's conference at St. James' Palace, when the Arab case was opened by Jamal Husseini, cousin of the Grand Mufti. It is understood that his concise 20-minute statement included some proposals. It has been decided that Dr. Weizmann's statement made on behalf of the Jewish Agency on Wednesday, and Husseini's to-day shall be published tomorrow, when the conference will be occupied with the British Government's comment on Dr. Weizmann's statement.
The next meeting with the Arab delegation has been fixed for Saturday.
The News Chronicle states that Husseini asked Britain to abandon the attempt to establish a Jewish national home, abrogate the mandate, and substitute an Anglo-Palestinian treaty similar to the Anglo-Irak treaty. Husseini also demanded the cessation of Jewish immigration and sales of land to the Jews, and stated that Palestine already had a larger population than it could support.
