Tho plough was also in use.

On the course proper Sandrift (R. E. Thomson) went once round in 2.17. Star Artist (C. L. Goulsbro) shaded Mungacre (W. Thomson) at the completion of six furlongs in 1.19 J. They ran the first two furlongs in 245, and the final half-mile in 55is. Both worked Well. ■ '

Latour's Last (A. Gilmer) and Calshot (Telford) were associated over half a mile in 53 l-ss. Rollicker (C. L. Goulsbro) ran the same distance in similar time He looks well.

The best half-mile of the morning was that of Sen Acre (O'Zanne) and the improving Australian Star (A. Gilmer), who finished clear of Haceline (Telford), in 52is. Sen Acre and Australian Star revelled in their work.

Both are in good order, for coming engagements. Shadow Queer» (J, Winder) and Vitement (Main) ran three furlongs in 38s. Gay Streak (A. Gilmer) .broke away in front of Hopalong (W. Solomon (Ensor) nccounted for Manui' (Tilsley) by a couple of lengths over five furlongs in 1.8. Calorie (Tilsley) shaped well over half a mile in 53 2-ss. Calorie has taken no harm from her exertions at Ellerslie. TAKANINI HORSES

PALUSTRE GOES WELL POKER DICE SHOWS SPEED HOT BOX AND ARVAKUR I'he going was excellent on the middle grass track at Takanini yesterday, when the poles were out 6ft. The plough was also used extensively. Palustre worked well over live furlongs and Poker Dice again showed speed over half-a-mile.

She leaves this morning for Potorua, where she will be ridden by T: Green.

Asset (McNaughtonj and Royal Acd (T. Green) were companions over four furlongs in 53 2-ss, taking 38 2-5s over the last three. There wjyj little between them. Nordic Song did pace work.

Flash B.y (Mudford) finished in front of Valimeen (Cunven), who ran wide at the turn, at the end of five furlongs in 1.4 3-5, taking 40s over the last three. .

Parquet (W. Jones) was going better than Ivy Willonyx (Mndl'ord) at the finish of seven furlongs in ~1.33 2-5. They ran the first three in 40s and the last three in 39 4-ss. Brazilian Resume:: Work Feldberg (Walters) went a mile in 1.51 1-5, being assisted by Lapidarian (Curwcn) ovqr the last six furlongs. They took 4-} l-5s over the last three. Among those to do useful work on the plough were Red Ledger, Anion, Pamela, lnvor, Night Spi and Inquisitor. The two-year-old Brazilian has resumed work .after a good spell. He showed a lot of pace when in work previously, but did not mature. He should be a good prospect for later racing. The following horses are booked to leave for Rotorua this morning:— Night Spi, Palustro, Pocket Venus and Solitary.
