The three main I accounts showed a surplus for the year ended .March 31, 1918, aggregating £159. Existing loans amounted to £43.756, while the deficit on . urrent account was £3843. 'i he report dealt with a proposal to instill a small suction gas-dri\eu electric set to relieve ho load on he gas plant, to savo expenditure on extending the gas works, and as a temporary measure, pending the carrying out of the propose,} Arapimi hydro-electric scheme by the Government. It is not proposed to take any action during the continuance of the war. Future improvements which it was mentioned should be considered were a wharf 1 and storage-she.! on the bank of the Wai- ■ kato River, and the erection of public ' conveniences in the centre of the business 1 portion of the town. Rates were struck | similar to those of last year.
