One of the most popular wins of the day was that of W. Goss and W. Goas, jun., against Peat and Briggs in the second round ot the ■ men's handicap doubles. Though, they had to bear the big handicap of owe 3u, the winners played splendidly, especially, the veteran, (toss, sen., whose volleying) and placing Wire a treat to watch. The winners took the first set, —1, and although, they lost the second, t-iey made no mistakes in the third and again won, 6—4. They were loudly appkuded at the conclusion of) the match.
