GENTLEMEN,~It may be known to you that I have, during the past month, in tho ordinary prosecution of my business, beon requested by the Provincial Government to sell for them tho Luuntio Asylum and Gravel Pit Resorvcs, and have thus brought myself under tho operation of tho "Limitation of Patronage Ordinance,'' which requires me to resign my soat in the Provincial Council. It is my intention, however, again to solicit your votes, so soon as the writ has been issued for filling up the vaoimoy^ and I sincerely trust that the manner in which I have discharged my public duties will entitle me to hope that Imay continue to enjoy the honor of representing you in the Provincial Council. Having been long connected with your district it will be a source of peculiar pride to me to be permitted to serve your interests as well as those of the province generally in the next session of tbe Assembly, which I consider will be of great importance to New Zealand at large.
