EXPORT OF FRUIT
SHIPPING-PROSPECTS
In spite of the war some fruit, it is understood, will be exported from New Zealand this season, reports the Hastings correspondent of the "New Zealand Herald." Growers had lately been, concerned about their future exports.
The prompt clearance of . meat and dairy produce which has been taking place is expected to make ships available for fruit and to relieve cool storage space to such an extent that more will be available for fruit than was anticipated.
Negotiations are proceeding in Wellington between officials of the fruitgrowers' organisations and the Internal Marketing Department, and it is hoped that the outcome will be an early announcement as to the sale of the 1940 crop. '
