AMERICANS' CLAIM

TRANSATLANTIC 'PLANES

LONDON, July 12. Captain Johnston (Australian Controller of Civil Aviation) said that the Americans are confident that they could establish a transatlantic service before Imperial Airways.

The Americans are secretive concerning their machines, but claim that they have suitable aeroplanes to operate via the Bermudas and the Azores, and also on the northerly route, without awaiting the construction of flyingboats in England for which the Sikorsky and Bellanca concerns are forming British companies situated at Belfast and Liverpool.
