UNIVERSITY CLUB
, The V.U.C. Harrier Club held its annual teams' race at Miramar, four teams of five men each competing. The trail, of 4% miles, led from the tennis courts up Darlington Road, and across hilly country to the new road above the bay, dropping .down to the Shelly Bay Road near the (wharf. Miramar Avenue was next crossed,' and the trail, after taking in the hill to Townsend Road, returned home via Awa Road. Shorland set the pace for a start, but was displaced at the first hill by Bagnail, who thereafter maintained the lead all the way. Shorland was second and Scrymgeour third. In the teams' section Bagnall's team came first with 27 points, and Oliver's second with 32 points.
Despite the club captain's remarks on teaming prior to the race, the attempt to run as teams was not very obvious, owing to the differing capabilities of the runners, but some combination work was apparent among the slower men.
Messrs. Krivan and Mouat were present as judges.
