The trail selected by the Olympic Club j supplied plenty of variety to a good muster of runners, who were divided into a fast and a slow pack. R. Garnham was in charge of the first, and R ( . Bezer. carried the whistle for the slower pack. From Island Bay, the coast was followed as far as the Run-around, where, after proceeding. upstream for about half a mile, the hills overlooking Happy Valley were -i climbed.. Following a descent into the valley, the intervening range to Island Bay was crossed, and a run-in was held from Duppa Street. This resulted -in W. Watt finishing first, with J. Fearcey second and W. Edwards third. L. Meyers and R. Lister ran well throughout, as also did! W. Edwards, a new member of dis-> tinct promise.
The colts were taken out by W. Scatchard, and their run-in resulted in Guest finishing first, with Bezer and Rush dead-, heating for second place. : '
