SAVOLDI BEATS WOODS BY TWO FALLS (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) HASTINGS, September 11. Joe Savoldi beat Joe Woods by two straight falls in a professional wrestling contest this evening after a colourful bout. Savoldi secured the first fall in the fifth round with drop-kicks. Woods was groggy when he came out of his corner for the next round, another drop-kick finishing him. In a preliminary professional bout, Mark Antunovich, Wellington, drew with Herb Brinson, Hawke’s Bay, there being no falls. BLOMFIELD DRAWS WITH KRUSE FAST BOUT AT HAMILTON (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) HAMILTON, September 11. Before a capacity house, Blomfield and Kruse wrestled a draw at Hamilton last evening. Thirteen hundred attended and 300 were unable to gain admission. In the fifth round, Kruse threw Blomfield with winglock and headlock throws, followed by a body press, to gain a fall. Blomfield trapped his opponent with an octopus clamp in the seventh round, Kruse submitting. The bout was full of action throughout, Kruse giving a fine exhibition of clever wrestling, though Blomfield was superior in the concluding stages.
