HOMING INSTINCT OF HORSES.
A remarkable instance of the homing instinct of horses has come under the notice of the Portland correspondent of the " Spectator," Hamilton, Victoria. -" A few days ago,'- he writes, "Mr Alfred Mackay - missed two. horses, and advertised .for tidings of them in vain. At last word camo fi om Beulah that they had turned up there —some 160 miles from Portland.' Mr Maokay formerly lived at Beulah, and journeyed to Portland with the horses about two years ago. The road is a most intricate one, running for a great part of the way through statiou property, and frequently cut off by gates. . The horses were in splendid condition when they arrived at Beulah,''
