THE LEMON PRODUCES.
The producer of lemone is in „ extremely unfortunate position and the health of the people will suffer now and in the future. The whole root, cnut and trouble is the wilful interference of an autocratic Government endeavouring to socialise not only the product of men but the gifts of God to nankind. Between the producer and the people there is created an army of iaepectors, and specially created legicktive jobs, and these individuals who form part -and parcel of the pernicious ejvtem firstly level heavy tribute on the producer by paying an uneconomic prk» and secondly control and compel Us* consumer to pay a price oat of all proportion to. the commodity. The grower ie paid from 2d to 4d per dozen, tie consumer pays from 2/ to 2/6 per dozen. Between the producer and consumer there stands the Socialistic power without wisdom or mercy levying tribute oa all sections concerned. In -whatever avennes it touches the' position k in- j tolerably worse for the producer and consumer. Under Government control bamtaae are landed in Auckland at 10/6 per caee. The retailer in the city is compelled to pay 23/ for the same case, the controller of bananas receives £700 per year and a large staff is maintained* in addition. The fruits of Mother Earth are for the people and not to be commandeered by a, political power for tht propagation of it* own motives or system. It A. TOZER.
