CORRESPONDENTS' VIEWS.

BOBBY CALVES. (To the Editor.) At last night's meeting of the exetgtire of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, attention was dr_m- n to recent letters regarding bobby calves. From the tone of the letters one would gather that this society is not doinv anything to ameliorate -the suffering, of these animals where cases of —neltv take place. As a matter of fact the society's inspector, Mr. HollingwortL regularly attends saleyards, slaughter* houses and railway yards where bobbv calves are received, and receatlV inspected ae many as 4000 £_ one shipment from the Waitato Naturally, he cannot be at txtty yard or place where, bobby calves _■* received on every occasion, so that the society must rely upon information of cases of cruelty being supplied to it hr animal lovers. Correspondents shcuM write direct to the society directly titv notice anything that needs attention. This society has always used its bert endeavours to prevent cruelty to animtj. wherever it takes place, and if anv < your subscribers see any instances o' cruelty I would request them to at one* get in touch with this society's office ~ inspector, and if the necessary evident* can be obtained they may rest assured . prosecution will follow. K. C. AEKDfg, Chairman.
