PIRATE SHIPPE.
The Pirate Shippe at Milford presented a gay scene on Saturday night, when the "Punchinello" carnival dance was held. The stage was draped in crimson and gold with lifelike representations of the various characters from the old-time Punch and Judy show. Cut-outs of the same characters adorned the cubicles whilst gaily coloured "punchinellos" were presented to the guests as souvenirs. An excellent programme of new and old music was rendered by the Shippe band, and carnivals, balloons and favours were showered from the upper deck. Amongst the very large number present were: Mesdames Fenton. Thompson. Lawrence, Haig, Findlav, Scheigus, Harrison. Burcess, Mitchell and the Alisses Shaw, Wrigley, Stevenson, Webster,, Allister. Armstrong. Stepney, Alderson, Alurray, Carisbrooke. Irwin, Wi'lsev (Timaru), Ward (Otaki). Turner, Fletcher, Wagstaffe. Kelly. Carnarvon, O'Neill, Aitehison, Cambridge,, Ringer. Eaton, Tamblyn, Walsh, Davis and Fisher.
