THE SHAREMARKET
New Zealand Crown shares changed hands to-day at 13/. with buyers left at 12/6. Other mining stocks were unaltered. In standard lines New Zealand Insurance were wanted at 62/, ex interim dividend of 2/ per share, which has now been paid. Hikurangi Coal shares were in demand at 8/6, and Taupiri Coal at 19/. Auckland Gas shares had enquiry at £13 17/6, and buyers of Northern Boot offered 9/3. Other lines were unchanged.
KAPOWAI
Mr Lindsay, manager of the Kapowai mine, came to town to-day, and left at the office of the Company a few pounds of stone from the main reef, and also a dish prospect,, which excited an amount of attention during the afternoon. The results of washing two dishes of loose.gold taken from the floor of the. drive where the -leader junctioned with the main reef were shown, and the tail"of gold was very rich, in fact, one of the best! shown on> the Exchange for many years. Giold could also be seen in the Stone from the reef.
