OBITUARY
REV. MOTHER LICOURI
A very large circle of ex-pupils and friends will learn with sincere regret of the deajli of the Rev. Mother Liguori, which occurred yesterday."+
The Rev. Mother was a prominent figure at St. Mary's Convent, Hill Street, for over half a centuiaf, and,, as well as being a remarkable teacher of music and singing, was one who was loved by !all who came in contact with her.
A daughter of pioneer residents of Wellington, Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore Cimino. who arrived in 1842 by the ship Olympus, she was born and educated in Wellington, and entered the religious life as a very young woman. For about 40 years the Rev. Mother taught music and singing at the convent, and many well-known artists received their instruction from her. All her pupils looked back with pleasure on the time they spent with her and were grateful to her for her generous expenditure of time and talent. The annual concerts of the college were, in her time, great musical events., The Rev. Mother is survived by three sisters, Mrs. W. G. Fisher, of Otaki, Mrs. E. P. Bunny, of Lower Hutt, and Mrs. G. H. Fisher, of Hawkestone Street, Wellington. The late Mr. Salvatore Cimino, of Eastbourne, was • a half-brother.
Solemn Requiem Mass' was celebrated in the Hill Street Basilica at 7 o'clock this morning. Following tradition, the funeral was private.
