BENEFIT MATCH
Wellington Regiment And Wanganui Draw Enterprise and determination by both teams were features of a benefit Rugby match played on Spriggens Park today between the A team of the First Battalion of the Wellington Regiment and the Wanganui A representative side. The game ended in a three-all draw. - Wanganui’s scrummaging was superior to that of the Army team, but their backs lacked the speed and purpose of the Army backs, who showed, fine, combination. For the Army team J. D. Picot kicked a penalty goal, and K. ’ Welsh scored- for Wanganui. The match was attended by members of the 'Wellington Regiment and the West Coast Regiment. The chairman of the management committee of the 'Wanganui Rugby Union, Mr. J. Moye, stated after the game that the proceeds would , be 'approximately £l2O, which would be equally divided between W. Phillips, th Wanganui player who broke his leg in the match against the Trentham Army' team and who has had it amputated, and Sergeant E. R. Brown, a member of the' Wellington Regiment, who is seriously ill in Wellington. In the early game the Wellington Regiment B team drew with 'Wanganui B team, 6 all. v
